PMK Consultants, Inc.
Firm History

Gerry Parker initially founded the firm as an individual consultancy, then merged with another consultant to form Marchbanks & Parker, Inc. Mr. Parker purchased his partner's interest several years later and renamed the firm EXCEL Computer Systems, Inc. In 1995, Mr. Parker formed PMK Consultants, Inc. with his original partner from Marchbanks & Parker, Inc., and merged EXCEL into the new firm.

Marchbanks & Parker, Inc. was a pioneer in developing software packages for soft-drink bottlers and related companies. This package was successfully marketed (jointly with Burroughs Corporation) and installed in a number of soft drink bottlers and similar route distribution companies. Clients included Houston Coca-Cola Bottling Company, San Antonio Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Allegheny Pepsi-Cola (Baltimore), Bresler Ice Cream Company (Chicago), and Owens Country Sausage (Richardson, Texas, a suburb of Dallas) and a number of smaller Coca-Cola bottlers.

In the 1980's most larger bottling franchises were purchased by the parent companies and the opportunities to sell bottling software became quite limited. The firm repositioned itself as a general software developer and applications specialist. In the course of the this "restructuring", the firm obtained and performed a large (over $1,000,000) system installation and applications development engagement for The National Council of Churches, a major non-profit institution based in New York city. The scope of this engagement included selection and installation of hardware, design of computer room facilities, design and programming of software using a real-time approach and a database management language, implementation of the software and training of user personnel. A staff of 18 professionals was recruited and trained.

PMK Consultants was formed to leverage the principal's experience in business and provide strategic consulting on a variety of business issues. These services include assistance with intractable information issues such as timely period closings and other issues related to information systems. In addition, the firm also provides several services of interest to "C" level executives. These include providing interim CIO services, interim CFO services, and technology project rescue services. The firm also provides traditional IT consulting services fro those clients with a need for them.
