SUMMARY OF SELECTED PROJECTS

• BJ Services Company (two engagements):

  • Consulting Study - Evaluated 10 products including ORACLE Developer/2000 and Designer/2000, Progress, J.D. Edwards Everest, Computer Associates TELON, Focus, IBM VisualGEN, Information Builders AS/SET, Synon 2/E and Obsydian, and two IBM products to select a fourth generation programming tool usable in AS/400, UNIX, and client-server environments;

  • Technical Analysis - Performed technical analysis of a complex proposal preparation system as part of a team composed of both client personnel and outside consultants. Analyzed MVS COBOL, C and Basic programs and MVS JCL. Prepared written report of findings with extensive flowcharts and technical commentary which were included in a larger report;

  • J.D. Edwards support - wrote interfaces to external systems for upgrade to version 7.2.

• Baker Hughes Inteq (two engagements):

  • Programming/analysis project - Programmed and implemented complex interface between client's existing J.D. Edwards and legacy applications and a Gary Brown Fixed Assets management package;

  •  Consulting Study - Conducted evaluation of fixed asset management and accounting practices in major offices world wide, developed recommendations, prepared and presented report. Evaluated J.D. Edwards Fixed Assets package (for AS/400 systems) for world wide use. Recommended purchase and implementation. Recommendations adopted.

• Friedman Industries, Incorporated - Mr. Parker has served as consultant and part-time IT Director for this publicly held steel processor for over 15 years. During that period the company has installed Internet services and networking in four remote branch locations, implemented on-line access to its IBM AS/400 via the internet with appropriate security, and installed a complete customized supply chain management software package.

• Zy-Tech Global Industries, Stafford, TX:

  • Added ACH links for Accounts Payable, designed and implemented e-mailed remittance advices for ACH payments;

  • Modified and tested custom LIFO calculation programs;

  • Provided user support and troubleshooting.

• Legacy Partners, Foster City Ca. - a major real estate developer and property manager:

  • Provided user support to a division for J.D. Edwards financials software;

  • Designed and wrote complex reports to provide financial information to management and investors using J.D. Edwards FASTR report writer under version A8.1

• Fiesta Mart, Inc. -  a grocery chain in Houston - Wrote several very complex financial reports using J.D. Edwards FASTR report writer under version A7.2;

• National Council of Churches. Developed and installed two major on-line real- time database applications. Recruited and managed staff of 15, managed analysis, programming, training and implementation; performed quality control, system testing; performed user training and provided implementation support. The products were developed using COBOL, DMSII (an early relational data base product) and GEMCOS (a network control program) on a Unisys B1985.

• City of Lubbock, Texas. Prepared complex software specification for an RFP for the Codes Enforcement and Inspection department. Interviewed key employees, assembled information, defined the conceptual framework for a complex departmental information system, and wrote the RFP.

• Hard Goods Wholesaler with multiple operating locations. Analyzed and documented extensive integrated voice/data communications system. Prepared report recommending improvements in communications infrastructure - most adopted.

• Safety Equipment Manufacturer - Networking – designed and installed a wide area network for a manufacturing company with 4 locations. Integrated an NT network with a Sun Solaris systems using TCP/IP over frame relay and Ethernet 10 and 100 MHz LANs. Software included SNA Server, Client Access, Windows NT Server, Lotus Notes Domino, Windows NT Workstation, and Windows 95.

• Chemical Manufacturer - multiple plants:

  • Package implementation - Planned, managed and performed implementation of ShawWare (a plant maintenance and scheduling package) on an IBM AS/400 in two plants located in Louisiana and Nevada. Performed all analysis and programming, managed training and implementation. Project lasted 14 months, completed on schedule and under budget;

  • Consulting study - provided technical analysis in support of a project to select financial packages to operate on an AS/400. Software analyzed included Software 2000, J.D. Edwards, and Lawson.

• Software development - Proprietary.

  • Developed, marketed and supported a comprehensive route distribution package for Coca-Cola bottlers and similar companies. Completed nine turnkey installations and many less extensive implementations. Recruited and managed a staff of 20 persons, performed extensive marketing, sales and training throughout the U.S.

  • A Joint marketing venture with Burroughs resulted in total sales in excess of $11 million (expressed in 1997 dollars). Installations completed include:

    • Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Houston

    • Allegheny Pepsi-Cola (Baltimore)

    • Bresler 33 Flavors (Chicago)

    • Owens Country Sausage (Dallas area)

    • San Antonio Coca-Cola Bottling Company

    • Several smaller route distribution companies
